Vault

Each persona has a Vault for passwords, notes, keys and two-factor codes. Vault items stay private to that persona and sync only to your own devices, never to the people you chat with.

Unlocking

Open the persona page and choose Vault. Whispurr asks for Face ID, Touch ID or your device passcode. If you cancel, tap Unlock Vault to try again.

The Vault locks itself after 5 minutes without use, when you switch apps, and when you leave the tab. Tap Lock to lock it straight away. While it's locked, nothing in it is decrypted. Switching personas never shows another persona's Vault.

Item types

KindHolds
LoginUsername, password, website and notes. Can also hold a two-factor code.
Secure NoteFree text.
Key & ValueA named secret, such as a licence key or a door code.
AuthenticatorA two-factor code on its own.

Any item can also hold files and photos: up to 20 files, 32 MB each, encrypted for this persona's Vault.

Add an item

  1. In the Vault, tap Add Item.
  2. Choose the Kind and fill in a Title and the fields. For a login, Generate Password creates a strong password.
  3. Tap Save.

Open an item to reveal or copy a field, use Edit Item, or Delete Item. Deleting removes the item and its files from the Vault on all your devices.

Two-factor codes

The Vault can generate the short codes that sites ask for when you sign in with two-factor authentication.

  1. Switch the Vault to Codes and tap Add Code. Or open a login and use its Two-Factor Code section.
  2. When a site shows a QR code to set up two-factor authentication, tap Scan QR Code. You can also use Choose QR Image for a screenshot, or type the site's setup key.
  3. Tap Add.

Tap a code to copy it. A ring shows how long it's valid for, and turns red in the last few seconds. Codes usually refresh every 30 seconds. Only time-based codes are supported.

Copying safely

Passwords and codes you copy from the Vault are cleared from the clipboard after a minute. On iPhone they stay on that device and don't go to your other devices' clipboards; on a Mac they're marked as concealed so clipboard tools don't keep them.
